Supplemental winter training

Your season ended. Their development didn’t.

Most players in Columbus train hard from August to November, then touch a ball twice a month until March. They come back to spring tryouts a little slower on the ball than they left.

Weekly Academy training at SFA is built to sit alongside your player’s own team, not replace it. Small groups, a four-week curriculum, and coaching from staff who work to Southampton FC-informed methods. Players keep their touch, their sharpness and their confidence right through the cold months — and arrive at spring selection ahead of where they finished the fall.

Every session is indoors on real turf. No cancelled sessions for weather, no hunting for a gym, no three-month gap.

The players who make the jump in spring are almost always the ones who kept working through winter. The work compounds.

The winter edge nobody else has.

SoccerBot360 is a 360° AI-powered training arena — balls delivered from multiple directions at match speed, difficulty that adapts to the player in real time, and every touch measured. Three facilities in the United States have one. One of them is on East 4th Avenue.

For a player doing supplemental winter work, it’s the difference between logging touches and having them scored, tracked and compared week over week.

Alongside it: TrackMan radar in the SFA Strike Lab, measuring the speed, spin and accuracy of every strike, and the Speed Court for reaction and repeat-sprint work.

Winter FAQs

The questions parents actually ask.

Can my player train here and stay with their own team?
Yes — that’s what most of our winter players do. Weekly Academy training is supplemental. You pick the nights that fit around your team’s schedule, and we group your player by age and ability once they’ve been assessed.
When does winter training start and finish?
The winter period runs from Monday 26 October 2026 to Sunday 28 February 2027 — four training cycles of four weeks each, with a two-week holiday break from 21 December to 3 January.
What happens over the holiday break?
Weekly Academy group sessions pause for two weeks. Holiday camp, private 1-on-1 sessions and field rentals all still run, so players who want to keep working through the break can.
What if my player misses a session?
Your player’s place is held for every session in the cycle, and we ask families to commit to attending all of them — the curriculum builds week on week and the players who attend everything progress fastest. If something unavoidable comes up, let us know in advance and we’ll talk it through.
How do I know which tier to pick?
Book the free tech assessment. It’s a 30-minute hands-on session, a $150 value at no cost, and it places your player in the right age and ability group based on their level, goals and schedule.
Is the Winter Pass refundable if we stop?
The Winter Pass is one payment for all four winter cycles and is non-refundable after 26 October. If something unavoidable comes up, call or text (614) 300-0016 and we’ll talk it through. The Pass can be transferred to a sibling.
Where are you, and is it really indoors?
2901 E. 4th Ave, Columbus, OH 43219 — a 40,000 square foot indoor training center. Every winter session is on indoor turf. Nothing gets cancelled for weather.
