SFA provides the very best in Goalkeeping instruction with Nick Hills (Hillsy)

What others have to say about Academy Coach, Nick Hills:

“Nick does a great job training the GK’s at Muskingum University. The GK trust Nick, but also know he will give them insightful information and prepare them to be ready for any game situation. As the Head Coach at Muskingum University I have complete trust in Nick to make sure the GK are prepared for each game and building a healthy competition between the keepers. He has been a pleasure to work with and has big things ahead of him!”

Adam PonderChicago State Men’s Soccer First Assistant Coach

“Nick has done a fantastic job with our players at Zanesville Arsenal SC. He has transformed soccer players into shot stoppers and shot stoppers into Goalkeepers. His training sessions are organized and are set to the level of the player. Nick is very knowledgeable about goalkeeping and has worked with players from u9 to college level. Our players when asked how was goalkeeper training they always say it was fun and they learned many things about the position of goalkeeper. I would recommend Nick to any goalkeeper wanting to take their game to the next level.”

Steve AshbyZanesville Arsenal SC - Director of Coaching

“When I was employed at kids America, the GK academy was always there grinding. As activities director, I was always there watching soccer on Saturday’s. The progress the keepers made with Nick was quickly noticeable. I even brought him into the Ohio Extreme Club to occasionally help out with keepers I had in my club! Highly recommend this academy to any keeper who wants to take their game to the next level!”

Bryce ParkhillCoshocton High School Girls Soccer Head Coach, Ohio Extreme SC Team Director

“I am hard on coaches. I expect energy, commitment, technique coaching, and professionalism. Coach Nick has helped our team with his training of our goalie. Her technique is significantly better since she started with us in the fall. On top of that I have spied on several of his trainings and I always see his goalies working with effort and listening to his coaching on technique. Thanks Nick. I will continue to send players to train with you. Develop! Develop! Develop!”

Brock SchnitzerStaff coach - Columbus United SC

“I’ve had the privilege to get to know Nick through mutual connections and talk soccer with him. We both share the similar passions for the development of players through technical training. His love and knowledge for the game are unmatched and i whole-heartedly believe he can take any players game to the next level. “

Koen RiehlOwner/Head Trainer - Riehl Training LLC

“I’ve trained and work with Coach Nick. He has a tremendous amount of passion for the position and development of our young GKs. I know Nick on many professional levels; from coaching with him at ODP and coaching against him at the High School level for Women’s Soccer. His keepers are fantastic and have a lot of respect for what he does. I also run my own independent GK academy and asked Nick to help with our training during our first year. I got a lot of positive feedback about Nick and his attention to detail from the kids and parents. The kids really appreciated how friendly he was and so easy to talk to. Thanks Nick for the friendship and being a great peer that I can count on here in Central OH.”

I’ve had the opportunity to work with him this past Fall at Ohio Premier SC and he brings a high level of Professionalism and Passion to the Club! Your GK will thoroughly enjoy working with him!”

David WinnerColumbus Crew SC Academy Goalkeeper Coach

“I’ve been training in the Hillsy Keeper Academy for multiple years now and I can honestly say that it has made me a better goalkeeper.  Nick’s focus on building from the basics and creating training sessions around the goalkeeper needs is very important to the growth of any level goalkeepers.

Another important aspect that Nick Hills teaches in his goalkeepers is the mental aspect of the game.  For example, when I was a freshman I was the starting goalkeeper for my high school varsity soccer team which is stressful on its own, but I found myself in a regional game shootout.  Going into it I was horribly nervous and felt the pressure of needing to help my team.  Nick came up to me and gave me the words of encouragement that I needed, he let me know that I was ready and he trusted that I would do what needed to be done.

It was because of Nick’s training that I was physically ready, but more importantly I was mentally prepared.  Nick is a dedicated coach who wants to see his keepers succeed. I plan to continue my growth as a goalkeeper in the Hillsy Keeper Academy and you should do the same!”

Makaela McLaughlinBishop Rosecrans High School

“I’ve been training with nick for around 4 years now and I always look forward to attending his sessions. Goalkeeper training is always the best part of my day. I like Nick’s training style because it’s hard and he holds me to a high standard but also helps me work through challenges. I’ve improved a lot with Nick’s training.

Nick has also helped me tremendously with the college recruitment process. I would be assigned weekly assignments from making my list of colleges, to sending coaches formal emails in order to get my name out there to college recruiters. This helped me focus on my goals to be a college keeper. Nick has not only helped me develop my skill but also develop my mindset about goalkeeping. I would definitely recommend Hillsy Keeper Academy to any goalkeeper looking to advance their skills, young or old.”

Chloe WilliamsLake Erie College

“I have been training with Nick for over two years. I started training with him during my junior year of high school in which I played only a few games in goal. After training with him over the next spring and summer I improved tremendously. I went from playing very few games in goal my junior year, to playing every game my senior year, setting two school records, and getting selected 1st team all-league and 1st team all-district. I could not have done this without Nick’s help. All this has allowed me to have the opportunity to play keeper at Marietta College. A school that is in the Ohio Athletic Conference, one of the top Division III conferences in the nation.

Every day I train with Nick I feel like I get better. He writes up great practice plans for every session. Each session focuses on a specific area of goalkeeping whether it’s shot stopping, low balls, crossing, etc. Plus, he is always open to suggestions. If we have something specific that we want to work on he’ll build a session specifically around it. This variety, as well as a willingness to take suggestions, has allowed me to know how to deal with anything. I very rarely ever see anything in a game that I have not seen in a training session.

I have also had the opportunity to help him train other keepers of all ages. These ages range from young to old, low skilled to high skilled, and little experience to lots of experience. I have helped him train 10-year old’s just starting out, all the way up to a keeper at a Division I college. He treats them all the same. Treating them all with respect while also pushing them to get better. I would recommend Nick for any goalkeeper looking to get better and compete at a high level.”

Josh MudgettGoalkeeper - Marietta College

“Keepers that work with Nick love the sessions. We extremely benefit from his coaching. We all appreciate the work that he puts into helping us become better soccer players and better goalkeepers.

The keepers that I work with during group sessions are all amazing. Nick drives us to compete at our highest level of play and never stops encouraging us along the way. The sessions introduce new things, but also repeatedly hit on important aspects until everyone is at the level they should be. The group sessions really push you to be better, because you are trying to work harder than the person next to you. I personally like that atmosphere because you improve every single time. I think that Nick is an excellent coach. Everyone at the group sessions respect him and look up to him.”

Riley HartleySenior - Maysville High School

“I am a GK in College and have been using the academy as a spring training to stay in shape in fall … the sessions are difficult when needed but always push me to be better… the sessions are tailored very well to keep me prepared for real game situations. There has not been a shot I’ve faced in game that I have not seen in training. The sessions are also a very upbeat and positive environment I would highly recommend Hillsy to anyone whether new to the position or seasoned veteran.”

Goalkeeper Weekly Academy Program

We feel that it is essential that goalkeeping instruction be included as a technical/tactical component of our weekly training sessions. As such, goalkeeping instruction is provided through our regular Academy Membership training options and is taught by Nick Hills.

At the Elite & College Prep levels, our goalkeepers receive goalkeeper-specific instruction 1x per week, and the 2nd training night of the week is dedicated to improving their tactical understanding of the game as it relates to a goalkeeper and the development of their technical goalkeeping abilities.

Alternative option: Individual Training (1-on-1)

Alternatively, our goalkeepers also have the opportunity to schedule 1-on-1 goalkeeper sessions with Nick.
